I love the Olympics! All week I have been watching whatever I can. What I love is that I would never ordinarily watch any of these sports. But there’s something about the Olympics that draws me in. As I write this post, I’m watching Dylan Armstrong of Canada try to win a medal in the shot-put competition. Such an interesting sport – how far can a huge man throw a heavy ball. These guys have arms as big is my body. Since Monday, I’ve watched badminton, judo, diving, swimming, rowing, basketball, fencing, soccer, you name it, I’ve been watching it! Canada won’t challenge for medal dominance but we take so much pride in what we do win. We cheer with their success, we flinch at their failures. I had tears in my eyes when Antoine Valois-Fortier won a bronze in judo. I cringed when Jason Burnett fell on the trampoline. I wish every athlete all the best in the rest of the Games. One thing’s for sure – I’ll be watching!!

Thanks to all the blogs for hosting! In other news, Earth and Money was added to two major personal finance blog aggregation sites – Money Index and Money Crashers. Finally, here’s a look at what I’ve been reading in the blogosphere this week.
- Jeremy over at Modest Money has been having a big week! First, he celebrated his 6 month blogging anniversary by announcing a big giveaway! Then, he was featured in an interview on Global TV, one of the big main news channels here in Canada. Crazy!
- A few months after selling her blog, Young and Thrifty returns with a post reflecting on what she learned about blogging since she’s left.
- With course selection starting for most University students, My University Money offers some tips for course selection.
- CF at The Outlier Model reminds us what a great place the dollar store can be to buy certain things that are overpriced elsewhere.
- Million Dollar Journey compares the cost of being a student at the various ‘Ivy-league Universities’ in Canada. In my opinion, its not about where you go to school, but what you do while you’re there.
- Daisy at Add Vodka looks at the cost of rescuing a dog, and bringing home a new family member.
- One last giveaway! See Debt Run is also celebrating a 6 month anniversary by giving away some prizes.
Have a great weekend everyone!! Enjoy the Olympics and Go Canada Go!

I’ve gotten into the Olympics pretty hardcore the last few days too but I just watch whatever is on prime time television. Enjoy the weekend!

All the blogs talking about Olympics has really got me itching to watch some too, but I’ve just got way too much work to catch up on. I actually met Dylan Armstrong a couple years back since he’s good friends with my old boss. He’s definitely a big boy lol.
And thanks for the mention E&M. It was pretty sweet to get on the news.

It was disappointing to see Armstrong fall short. But not everyone can win! Try and free up a few minutes to watch some, it only happens once every four years

Thanks for the mention!
I always tell myself that I’m not interested in the summer Olympics, that I’m not going to bother watching, etc etc. … But I always do. It was a good day for Canada today, with hopefully more to follow!

Well, I agree that I would rather watch the Winter Olympics, but something about the Olympics just draws me in too. So much passion and dedication, its hard not to pay attention.

I too am addicted to the Olympics. I am always blown away at what these athletes can do. It just inspires me to workout more.
Did you see the Usain Bolt 100 meter yesterday. Crazy how someone can be that fast!
I know I am going to be sad next week when the Olympics are over.

No matter how hard I try, I still can’t get into the Olympics, outside of watching mens and womens soccer/basketball, the only other event that I liked was the 100 meter sprint, as I was more curious whether Usain would retain his title.

Did you watch the women’s soccer game yesterday? I was up in arms! Canada should have one, the officiating was terrible.

Sorry for the late comment here! Thanks so much for featuring our contest. I think it was pretty successful….except for the part where we asked for the winner’s address to mail the book and she hasn’t yet responded. :/

I watch it when I can, but when I do, I find it very entertaining. Like Gymnastic, it’s amazing the things they can do. It’s winter olympics that I don’t like
